Aussie tennis professional, Anastasia Rodionova, put up an enthralling show at the hard courts of Miami during the first qualifying round clash against the Ukrainian contender, Lesya Tsurenko. Sony Ericsson tournament kicked off
well for the Aussie star; gobbling up the straight sets triumph 6-2, 6-4 to set the tone.
Tsurenko commenced the match with a serve hold and tested her opponent in the following game but couldn’t do enough to win a breakpoint. The tables were turned upon her in the following game when she failed to win any points after
the first rally. She lost the serve game and went down 2-1 in the opening set.
It was clear that the Aussie doubles specialist will not spare the Ukrainian at all. She went out with a complete onslaught that clasped another breakpoint in the fifth game. Scores tickled past to 4-1 in her favour.
Although, the Ukrainian won a breakpoint in the sixth game but was broken right back in the following game that inched the Aussie one step closer to a massive opening set triumph. She held her serve after gifting a couple of points
to her opponent and registered a set lead.
It was crucial for the Ukrainian to break serve early in the second set to power down the Aussie player. She failed to do so; however, didn’t lose the breakpoint in the early stages and kept the scores together at 3-3.
A terrific onslaught from the Aussie earned her a breakthrough but she was broken in the following game that tied the scores at 4-4. Unfortunately for the Ukrainian, her serve was broken again in the ninth game that favoured the
scenario for the 99th ranked Aussie starlet.
Rodionova made no mistake at all in the following serve game. She was tested rigorously but saved three back-to-back breakpoints to register a tight serve hold. It was an emphatic start for the Aussie player who had been struggling
in the recent past.
