Anastasia Zueva pockets Women's 50m back-stroke title– 2011 Italian Grand Prix
Anastasia Zueva of Russia displayed her tremendous skills by pocketing the title of Women's 50m back-stroke at the 2011 Italian Grand Prix on Saturday, November 19.
The 21-year-old Russian remained inevitably strong and crushed hopes of her rivals in the shortest back-stroke discipline. Zueva presented her astonishing skills by capturing gold medal of the event in a time of 27.41 seconds.
The Russian has scored eight international medals during her entire swimming career. Recently, she claimed the title of 50m back-stroke along with the silver medal of 100m back-stroke at the 2011 World Championships in Shanghai, this July. She also clinched
two silver medals in events of 100m and 200m back-stroke at the 2009 World Championships in Rome.
Before that, she collected two gold medals in the events of 50m and 100m back-stroke at the 2008 European Championships in Eindhoven. She also acquired two silver medals in the events of 100m and 200m back-stroke, respectively at the same championship.
The gold medallist remained 0.29 seconds ahead of Elena Gemo of Italy, who ended her swim by clocking a time of 27.70 seconds for silver medal. The 24-year-old Gemo out-touched her competitor, Lucia Martelli with a difference of 0.88 seconds. Martelli proved
her dominance for the third fastest spot as she clocked a time of 28.58 seconds for bronze medal.
She was trailed by Valentina De Nardi of Italy, who remained just 0.35 seconds slower than her former finisher and emerged on the finishing end with a timing of 28.93 seconds. The fifth fastest spot was secured by Veronica Neri, who was 0.42 seconds behind
De Nardi and reported a time of 29.35 seconds for fifth position.
Meanwhile, Costanza Saletti acquired sixth fastest spot of the swim with a timing of 29.65 seconds. She was followed by Federica Meloni, who remained 0.37 seconds slower and submitted a time of 30.02 seconds.
Chiara Logli was 0.26 seconds behind Meloni and ended her swim with a timing of 30.28 seconds.
In addition, the session ended after the completion of all scheduled events while winners received medals for their wonderful efforts after the session.
