Anastasia Zueva pockets Women’s 50m backstroke gold: Day one – 2012 Paris Open

Anastasia Zueva of Russia pocketed gold medal of the Women’s 50m backstroke on day one of the 2012 Paris Open Swimming Championships on Friday, July 6.
The Russian swimmer devastated hopes of her opponents in the backstroke discipline as she proved her mettle for the crown of the event. With her quickest start and unmatchable pace, she cemented her place on the victory stand for gold medal.
Her immaculate efforts placed her almost one stroke ahead of her closest swimmer as she hit the finishing blockade with the timing of 28.26 seconds for gold medal.
The champion remained in a lead of 0.30 seconds over Laure Manaudou of France, who ended her sprint in second best place by producing a time of 28.56 seconds for silver medal.
Third position of the shortest backstroke discipline was secured by Sophie Edington of Australia, who stayed half a second behind and transpired on the finishing blockade by touching the wall with the timing of 29.05 seconds.
The bronze medallist was chased by Jenny Mensing of Germany, who was only 0.11 seconds slower from overwhelming the third position holder and ended fourth in the discipline with an effort of 29.16 seconds.
Moments later, the spectators witnessed stupendous efforts of Jordan Coelho of France in the Men’s 200m butterfly final. Coelho demonstrated his stupendous efforts in the distant butterfly event and captured the crown with an effort of 1 minute and 58.86
seconds.
His alluring effort remained almost 2.50 seconds slower from his teammate, Hugo Tormento, who secured silver medal of the discipline by submitting a time of 2 minutes and 01.49 seconds.
The second position holder was trailed by Paul Lemaire of France, who made his way to the medal rostrum for bronze medal by clocking an effort of 2 minutes and 02.48 seconds.
Fourth position of the 200m discipline was secured by Nico van Duijn, who settled on the finishing end with the timing of 2 minutes and 04.09 seconds.
The crowd admired notable efforts of Zueva and Coelho in their respective events while the winners expressed happiness over their accomplishments at the medal ceremony of the tournament.
