Anastasiya Vasylyeva cripples Laetitia Sarrazin in round one – Antalya ITF 2012
Top seed, Anastasiya Vasylyeva, devastated the French challenger, Laetitia Sarrazin, with double breadsticks at the Antalya ITF 2012 on Tuesday. She jolted down a 6-1, 6-1 victory against the Frenchwomen to power into the second round at this ITF (International
Tennis Federation) Women’s Circuit event taking place in Antalya, Turkey.
The Ukrainian seed displayed superb tennis to crush Sarrazin in their first encounter. After bagging the victory in almost 45 minutes, Vasylyeva comfortably progressed into the round of 16 at this outdoor clay court event taking place from 3rd
to 9th December.
Vasylyeva made a superb entry at the Go Tennis Academy. She unveiled her true colours right after entering the Turkish dirt and went on a five-game killing spree. After Sarrazin came on score sheet in the sixth game, the Ukrainian plucked her serve once
again and clinched the opener with a breadstick. She blocked the only breakpoint she came across and cashed all three break chances to inch towards her goal.
Ranked 320th in the WTA (Women’s Tennis Association) Premier Rankings, Vasylyeva carried her winning ways in the following set. She jumped to a 2-0 lead with a break of serve. After the French kept her serve in the third game, Vasylyeva pocketed
the last four games and sealed the set with an impressive 6-1 score line. She was never challenged with any hindrance and converted three out of four break chances to her advantage.
The 20-year-old started her this year campaign at the Almaty ITF event. She blasted past her entire opponents and eventually bagged the title (overpowered fifth seeded Michael Honcova with a breadstick). Vasylyeva also stunned top seed Yulia Putintseva in
straight sets en route to the final showdown.
However, she lost her path after winning the title and crashed out from opening or second round in all of the following tournaments she entered.
Up next for Vasylyeva is the local wild card entrant, Hulya Esen who recorded a 6-4, 5-1 retirement victory against the Spanish contender, Nuria Parrizas-Dias, to set p this meeting. The Turk was leading 5-1 in the second set when Parrizas-Dias suffered
an ankle injury and was forced to pull out from the tournament.
