Anatoliy Byshovets laments Stanislav Cherchesov’s departure from Terek Grozny – Football News
Senior sports analyst, Anatoliy Byshovets, has bemoaned Stanislav Cherchesov’s resignation after saying that the 49-year-old Russian manager should have remained at Terek Stadium despite failing to help the Chechens
secure UEFA Europa League berth this season.
“Terek showed that they have improved this season. They recorded some wonderful performances in the Russian championship. Unfortunately, the team dropped too many points in the course of the season, and, at times
they have not been fairly treated. But in any case, Cherchesov helped Terek become a more competitive team despite missing out on Europa League. Cherchesov built a winning mentality among the squad, telling them that winning points at home and on the road
are equally important. I think the team had some great football matches against more powerful rivals. That's why I did not like his departure,” The former Spartak Moscow man was quoted as saying.
Despite of winning their final game of the campaign 4-1 against FC Krylia Sovetov Samara at home earlier this week, the Grozny-based failed to qualify for the European tournament this season.
The Chechens finished at the seventh spot on the league table, missing out on the European tournament with just three points margin with fourth placed Spartak Moscow.
The Noxci, meanwhile, failed to reach the Russian Cup semi-final after losing the quarter-final of the domestic cup tournament against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Rostov-c39192 on a penalty shoot-out. Terek reached the round-of-8 after defeating
Lokomotiv Moscow 3-1 at Akhmad Arena (Grozny).
Terek have now appointed Yuri Krasnozhan, who previously coached Anzhi Makhachkala, Lokomotiv Moscow, Spartak Nalchik and Kuban Krasnodar in the Russian Championship, at the helm after accepting resignation from
their previous manager.
If speculations are to be believed, the contract with the 49-year-old is designed for three years with the possibility of further extension.
Byshovets went on to lament talk about Lokomotiv Moscow’s below par campaign, saying that the Moscow-based club need to alter the situation after finding it difficult to win the league title since 2004.
However, he refused to blame Slaven Bilic for the team’s below par performances in the domestic championship, saying that the Croatian tactician was under severe pressure from the public.
