The former Dynamo Kyiv player, Anatoliy Byshovets, has predicted a win for Zenit St. Petersburg against Shakhtar Donetsk in the upcoming group stage match of UEFA Champions League at Petrovski Stadium.

After drawing the previous European encounter 2-2 against Zenit at home, Shakhtar need to win the upcoming group stage game if they are to upheld their Champions League dreams.

Byshovets is of the opinion that the match is going to be a spectacle and tipped the home team to win the tie.

The Miners are yet to win a group stage game, after claiming back-to-back draws against Apoel FC and Zenit before suffering a shock defeat against FC Porto. As things stand, Shakhtar are at the bottom of the group table.

“Playing at home, Zenit surely have the advantage. The home team will enforce active pressure on Shakhtar.

“Donetsk will rely on the counter attack. Shakhtar are unpredictable in the attack and they are fast and technical. I think the confrontation of different tactics between the managers will enhance the charm of the game.” Ballon d’Or winner was quoted as
saying.

Byshovets went on to reveal that Shakhtar are aware of the defensive mistakes they made against PFC Oleksandria in the latest Ukrainian Premier League tie at home, and they need to alter the defence when taking on Zenit.

The former FC Tom Tomsk coach revealed that both the team and coaches are working on the upcoming game, admitting that he is eagerly awaiting the mouthwatering clash.

Shakhtar are currently at the second spot on the Ukrainian Premier League table while Zenit are atop the Russian Premier League table. Byshovets is of the belief that it does not matter where the team belongs on the league table and explained the difference
between a Champions league clash and a league tie.

“I do not think that a league position will matter for this game, Champions League have its own privilege.” Byshovets concluded.
