My doctor reccomended I have it done between 19-20 weeks. At my 17 week appointment this week she gave me the script to have it done & the phone # to the hospital to schedule it. I just realized I can't go at 19 0r 20 weeks due to one of my family members having surgery & I have to care for them afterward. Is 18 weeks ok to have an anatomy ultrasound? Or is it to early? I am really excited to find out the s*x of my baby also!

  1. If you really want to know the s*x you should wait until 20 weeks so they can get a clear picture.

  2. I am now 17 weeks and I found out at 14 weeks that I am having a boy

  3. I found out at 18 weeks that I am having a boy.  My doctor said that was the earliest.  They should be able to tell at 18 weeks.

  4. 18 weeks is perfectly fine so long as the baby is alert and cooperates. my initial ultrasound was done at 18 weeks and my daughter would NOT move at all...So i had to come in again at 20 weeks to complete the entire exam. They were unable to see all of her development at 18 weeks b/c they kept saying "she's still very small". Anywhere from 18-22 weeks is cool.

    Good Luck and Congrats!

  5. 18 weeks is fine or as suggested above you could wait until 21 weeks if it is more convenient for you

  6. I would recommend having it done later, rather than earlier. If there is an anatomical problem, it will be more likely to show up at 21 weeks, rather than 18 weeks. I have heard cases where they have not been able to get a good enough look at all baby's anatomy earlier, and people have had to go for a repeat ultrasound.

18 weeks is late enough to find out the s*x, but not necessarily to see the full anatomy.

I had my anatomy ultrasound at 20 weeks + 5 days.

  7. well they first told me i was having a girl at 15 weeks. so yes 18 weeks is ok. but if you want to make sure then you can go at 21 weeks.

  8. I had some bleeding from my cervix at 17 weeks and they sent me for an ultrasound.  While I was there they checked on the baby and I found out I was having a girl!  So, 18 weeks is not too early to find out.  Good luck and eat/drink something sugary to get that baby moving about 30 minutes before your appointment.
