The Paris Saint-Germain manager expects the team to bounce back against AC Ajaccio, follwoing a slow start to the campaign that resulted in a stalemate against FC Lorient last week
The weekend’s opening encounter saw the cash-laden Paris outfit earning nothing more than just a draw. The dismal first half saw the title contenders lagging on a two goal deficit, only for Ibrahimovic's double to salvage a draw in the dying moments of the
match.
Teams like LOSC Lille and Olympique de Marseille, who are up for the title challenge this season, secured victories in their opening fixtures, and Carlo Ancelotti believes that it will be a matter of days before his side clicks.
The manager was optimistic in particular about the recent signings, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Thiago Silva and Ezequiel Lavezzi to fire on all cylinders.
The 53-year-old was of full praise for his Swedish striker as he said, “We have a fantastic striker [Ibrahimovic] but we need more balance”.
He added, “We have to work together. We have to be more focused at the start of the matches, and more aggressive”.
Former AC Milan man and currently the highest earning player in the game, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, believes that it won't be long before the squad turns up with impressive showings.
According to him, “This was our first match, we are a new team, we have only known each other for a week and a half and we need some time for things to fall into place”.
However, last week did not only see PSG held to a draw, the opening day fixture also saw champions Montpellier held to a thrilling 1-1 draw, giving more glimmer of hope to Ancelotti’s men.
It will be interesting to see how La Paillade will tackle Lorient this week, as the same side held PSG to a stalemate last week.
Elsewhere, Lille opened the campaign on a high as the team managed to earn a 2-1 victory over Saint-Etienne, thanks to a stoppage-time winner by Benoit Pedretti. Les Dogues will face Nancy this week.
Marseille will look to build on the tempo after a comprehensive 1-0 victory over Stade de Reims last week. Last season’s 10th placed side will take on Sochaux in the next meeting.
