Ancelotti Insists There Is No Pressure From The Owner
Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti insisted that he was under no pressure from Roman Abramovich, the Chelsea owner. The Italian manager has seen his side lose three out of their four Premier League matches and will be desperate to return to winning ways against
Newcastle this Sunday.
The former AC Milan manager admitted that he felt under pressure when his side lost to Jose Mourinho’s Inter Milan in the Champions League last season, he insisted that there was no strain from the owner. The expectations came from himself.
Ancelotti said, “The owner doesn't put me under pressure. After the defeat against Inter it was normal to be under pressure because we didn't reach our result in the Champions League. It wasn't the owner who put me under pressure. He always supports
me and is supporting me also in this moment.”
He added, “To be under pressure doesn't mean I'm not safe. It's normal to be under pressure. Under pressure I have more concentration. You have to look at the results. The results are not good and I have to take my responsibility and stay more in focus
on my job.”
Rivals Manchester United currently have the same points as the Blues and face Blackburn at home on Saturday. A win would see them take the lead at the top of the Premier League since Chelsea play Newcastle on Sunday.
However, Ancelotti insisted he was not concerned with their result, the Italian maintained that he was focusing on his side. The Blues will be desperate for a win, which will come after two back to back losses. He said,
“I have to use all my experience to give more opportunities to the players to do better.”
Ancelotti continued, “We're not concerned, but it would be better for everyone to stay top. A strong manager, a strong team, has to manage the pressure. It's impossible to stay all the time at the top. Last year was the same, we went down but we reacted
well and won the title at the end of the season.”
Ancelotti has been managing a very depleted squad, players like John Terry, Frank Lampard, Michael Essien and Alex have been unavailable because of injury and suspension and that has undoubtedly affected their performance. Chelsea travel to Newcastle this
Sunday.
