After a poor string of performances in the month of November, Paris Saint-Germain have made a great start to the month of December which means that Carlo Ancelotti can heave a huge sigh of relief
After last weekend’s 2-1 defeat away to OGC Nice in the league, Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain took the bull by the horns and literally set the record straight. After a 2-1 win over http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Porto-c39186 in their last group game of the UEFC Champions League, Les Parisiens claimed first place in the group and also managed to replicate the same performance in their league endeavour against Evian Thonon-Gaillard.
The final result was 4-0 to Ancelotti’s side who gave a good account of their galactic status. In that game, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Kevin-Gameiro-c20721 all scored a goal each and Ancelotti was delighted to see the first three players starting the game.
It seems that the 4-4-2 formation works for the Italian tactician. However, Ancelotti says that the improvement in performances has more to do with the change in his players’ behaviour. The former Milan tactician feels that players have now started taking their responsibilities individually and concentrate more on a collective effort to chalk up positive results.
“With four attackers, it is difficult to find a defensive balance. At this point, the attackers work. This is not a system problem, but the behaviour of players. This is what has changed. Players took their responsibilities individually, and improved the collective effort. We do not play individually, rather all together, it’s much easier. We worked to find the right solution. It think that was the case today, but we must continue to work and not fall behind. After the defeat to Nice, it was two good games for us.”
It must be said that the victory over Porto at Parc des Princes was the turning point of PSG’s season which was on the brink of a collapse. However, one also has to give credit to Carlo Ancelotti who despite all the pressure he was under, managed to find stability within the group of players, something which is a sign of a great manager.
