Question:

Anchoring a 56' TV to protect a toddler??

I have a large, very lightweight TV that could probably be pulled off the TV stand its on or tipped over by a small child. Has anyone had experience anchoring a flat screen TV somehow to prevent it from tipping?? Nothing can be nailed into the wall behind it.

  1. I think the real question is how can I protect a T.V. from a toddler.  Well, thats what I'm always thinking....

I have not let my son touch the T.V. or the stand since we got the thing.  If he goes by and tries to put toys on the stand or climb it we tell him no.  He is not allowed to touch the T.V. and it seems to have worked out so far, since its so big my son understands he can't really see whats ot it if he stands too close.  I might have to look into this too one day.  If discipline totally isn't going to work then try asking this question in the home improvement section, I'm sure you don't want to ruin the stand by just drilling the T.V. down.

I went to Target yesterday and saw stands with a mount.  It would be the same as mounting it to a wall its just attached to the stand I don't know if they would support a 56" T.V..  Also, even if you mount it you have to teach your child not to climb on things.  Anything kind of high is a safety risk.

  2. I would recommend getting a closed TV entertainment stand that you can actually close the doors when not in use.  You can get these pretty cheap at Wal Mart.

If not willing to do this, then I might recommend a high tv stand that your child may not reach.
