Ancient Chitchen Itza?

I need to do research on ancient Maya. It's for my story, not homework, and it takes place in the city of Chitchen Itza in 750 A.D. So, archaeologists, can you help me find out a few things? Like, what did they eat? What was the religion? What kind of places and homes did they have? What did they wear? How was childhood like? What language did they speak? I think it's Spanish.

  1. If you are intent on setting it in the year 750 A.D. that is likely too early for Chichen Itza. Most of the famous structures there date from about 800-1200 A.D.

    Nobles (royal family, scholars, priests) lived inside the city, common people outside. It is still possible to see a typical/ traditional Mayan home in the area. There's some pictures here:

  2. The language they spoke was Mayan, since they are Mayans. This language is still in use in the Mayan community in Yucatán.
