Both these places are located near Sindhu river. The floods in this river covered these two places several times. Again and again people were reconstructing the cities.  A time came when they realise their futile efforts of construction and left these places.

Attack by Aryans.

The people of Harappa and Mohenjodaro was actually Dravidas - the original and pure INDIAN. They had developed many things except warfare. The Aryans were expert in war. So they had pushed the Dravidas toward southern part of India leaving their ancestral place.
