I'm interested in ancient cultures, and civilizations and archeology. And I'm reading this website with an article supposedly written by a man named David Hatcher Childress ("real life Indiana Jones") Anywho, it talks about the Atlantian civilization as if it is fact.. at least thats what I make of it. Supposedly it's real name is Poseid, and they had technology not present even in our modern world today. "...air conditioners to overcome deadly and noxious vapors; airless cylinder lamps, tubes of crystal illuminated by the night side forces; electric rifles, guns employing electricity as a propulsive force (rail-guns are similar, and a very new invention); mono-rail transportation; water generators, an instrument for condensing water from the atmosphere; and the Vailx, an aerial ship governed by forces of levitation and repulsion..." And of the known 200 sunken civilizations, some are said to have mono-rail carts, air strips... etc. etc. Is this true??

  1. When I was a a kid I was all over this, it's amazingly cool sets of ideas, unfortunately, not a whole lot of it holds water, and so it's kind of like bad science fiction, from my perspective, but there is not alot of evidence to support any of these conjectures.

Detailed genetic and archaeological evidence are hard enough to get across to most folks when we can back it up with evidence, this kind of stuff - to my mind - is no different from the creationist tripe that folks try to pass off to elementary school kids instead of actual history or science.

As it is, there are artifacts and  evidence to suggest that pre-industrial society was fairly more sophisticated but not necessarily "advanced" in the sense of higher technology.

Specifically the Library of Alexandria was a tremendous loss to pre-industrial mankind who's loss is difficult to estimate. The Antikythera Calculator (a differential geared mechanism) is the most advanced artifact from the ancient world - that I am aware of, but this is about it.

Otherwise, The advent of anything more advanced than say electroplating and short-range battery use would be out of the question, since Maxwell's equations were CERTAINLY not available to any ancient society, since they were based on advanced forms of calculus not available to ancients - to our knowledge.

The best book on the subject I can recommend are

Jarred Diamond's two excellent books, Guns, Germs and Steel , and Collapse cover civilization advances over the first 15-20 thousand years and make it pretty clear that no such super-civilizations ever existed as far as we can tell.

The Seven Daughters of Eve - highlights the migration - at a genetic level - of humans from Africa across the planet. There is no indication of a large mass-migration in the genetics of the local regions, although there are some small isolate populations (such as Basques) and the Aino People of Hokkaido, Japan, which are interesting.

  2. Does he present any ACTUAL physical evidence for his claims? Thats the criteria you should apply!

  3. To date no one, reputable or not, has been able to verify the legend of Atlantis, or Mu or whatever name one chooses to use. There have one occasion been discoveries of undersea ruins that some people swear are the lost city of Atlantis and others just scoff at, but none have ever been found with evidence of advanced scientific knowledge. The latest of these were discovered off shore of Japan. As yet there is still doubt as to the man made status of these "Ruins" and certainly no man made relics within the structures.

  4. Ah, the sunken city of Atlantis.  Wonderous marvels beyond even our abilities today and yet, (since there were no survivors) not a single life jacket or boat.

  5. No one knows.  Concentrate on your schoolwork.

  6. You're wrong and so is Mr Childress. The difference is he knows it.There's absolutely no evidence to support your claims.

  7. 'Night side forces'?  What are those supposed to be?  This guy is obviously just making up c**p off the top of his head.  No, none of it is true.  I suggest you read things such as 'Archeology' magazine instead of random websites from crackpots.  Anyone can claim anything on the internet, and sound like an expert to a layperson.  It certainly doesn't mean they have anything to back it up.  If he did, he'd be published.  And none of that is published in a peer-reviewed journal.

  8. I think that it is possible that ancient civilizations could have developed more advanced technology in secret from the rest of the world look at Hero of Alexandria he invented the first steam powered device, in less than 200 years we went from steam powered machines to the level we are at today, Hero created his steam powered device sometime between 10 – 70 AD so imagine more than a millennium to take advantage of the steam engine, so your idea of ancient civilizations with advanced technology might be to far off.

  9. I do believe in ancient civilizations using advanced technology...a good book to read is "Forbidden History" by Douglas Kenyon, there's a lot of information there.

  10. A lot of ancient cultures had electricity, I know that one. But even then, they only used it for reliving pain in medicinal purposes. I don't really know the rest.

It may not be what you think:

For "air conditioners" it may have referred to the ancient Roman invention of double paned glass window. Making it warmer in winter and cooler in summer.

For "mono rails". Well, this just means "one rail". The ancients could easily have carts for the purpose of travel. It is of course a theory to the travel of the pyramid blocks.

For "air strips", you know Bimini Road? Said to be Atlantean? Yeah, well, that was supposedly an air strip. But nobody really knows that, it's just a theory.

    Etc. etc.

I'm not going to lie, I think the ancients were really smart enough for all this. I believe they did have more advanced technologies then we do, but in a different.
