Question:

Ancient civilizations in modern times?

With some many civilizations being advanced beyond what we would have ever thought, Is it not possible that perhaps an ancient Greek civilization would have colonized the moon already?

I mean the original pyramids in Egypt are still a mystery. Even the Egyptians wonder who built these before them, Mimicking them was easy, start with a square base and build up.

  1. The pyramids in Egypt are not a mystery. Engineers today have been able to figure out how to build them materials available at the time.

But building a pyramid and launching a rocket are two different things. When the US started the Apollo program many of the technologies that were required were not yet invented. They would have to be researched and developed before we could successfully land on the moon.

The ancient civilizations, though very technologically savvy did not have the materials, methods or understanding to be able to launch a rocket to the moon.

Remember everyone thinks that the time that they live in is very modern.

  2. That's somewhat ethnocentric.  Chinese civilization has been essentially continuous for thousands of years and were arguably more advanced than the ancient Greeks.  There was no "dark ages" loss of information in China and also no trips to the moon in ancient times.

Perhaps a better understanding of ancient history would change your question.  Only part of the Roman Empire collapsed.  The rest became what we today call the Byzantine Empire.  The Dark Ages also was not a time of total stagnation.  Much of the cultural changes that occurred during the later Middle Ages had their beginnings in the so-called "dark ages."

Your idea of who is really a technological powerhouse nowadays is also flawed.  Japan and South Korea have far more advanced technology than North America does.

  3. Well... That's mysteries, maybe you should read Eirich Von Daniken's book or googling for Ancient Astronaut Mysteries.
