Question

While an "Ancient Gear" is face-up on your side of the field, you can Special Summon this card from your hand in Attack Position.

does that mean that i can only special summon it if ancient gear is on the field? or when an ancient gear monster is on the field?

the "" makes it only if it is "ancient gear" period.  if there is card in the future that makes you able to change name/condition, it would be nice.  at the current time, I suggest heavy mech support unit+machine duplication.

it will only work if ancient gear is on the field ... it wont work if there is an ancient gear monster on the field ... there is a card which allows you to special summon 1 level 2 or lower machine monster from your hand ... you could use this although i probs wouldnt use ancient gear ... generally the only thing it could be any good for is defence or fusion fodder for ultimate golem
