  1. I always use the green cloth editions from the Loeb Classical Library, which contain on the right pages an English translation which for most books is nearly literal, with Greek on the left pages.  The Iliad and the Odyssey are each two volumes, and new they are generally 20-30 dollars per volume.  Loeb is also usually the most widely available edition if you are looking for an older copy.

    If your Greek is really good I guess you might be able to find single volume editions, but I don't actually know of any of these.

    Chapman's translations (17th century) of the Iliad and the Odyssey have recently been reprinted in quite cheap editions. They are very good, if you like early modern English:
