Some one who knows I really need your help. Please know ignorant remarks, because you dont know me or my situation and obviously I am doing something with my life.

Anyways, does anyone know exactly what welfare will pay for for your school (welfare-to-work) activities? I am in California under Calworks, so if you know in this state I prefer that, but any state really, let me know. I think my worker is lying to me like she is about everything else, which I am putting a complaint in on her. I took an extended ed class for Phlebotomy and I need to know which costs the will pay for. I know they pay for the books, supplies, clothing, but what else. What fees as far as registration, course fees, administration fees, etc will they pay for?

  1. Hi Aljea,

I looked & unfortunately could not find info online related to educational assistance.  Isn't is sad that this is not a major benefit.  On one hand the govt says get to work but on the other they don't provide the tools you need to get a good job.  I'm sorry you have to suffer fools like Jonn449 who resent the fact *their* tax dollars might possibly go to help people in need.  I call it blaming the victim.  These kinds of people give humanity a bad name.

I would suggest you call Calworks and ask them.  I looked on their website & didn't find what you are looking for.  They might have educational assistance and it's worth a call.

Good luck!  As one hard working, under paid NON welfare recipient, I feel ya girl & am in your corner.

  2. So, in your mind, the American taxpayers should fund your education, supplies, clothing, and anything else you can get?

Nope, don't know you, your "situation". But why should MY tax dollars go to pay for your education? I put 2 of my kids through college without the taxpayers help, why should I, and the other tax payers, fund yours?
