Memories Ring

There is a place, a time, to meet again

for you my friends, my memories still ring.

And there, that place, our home, a timeless chain.

For you my friends, my memories still ring

ever faithful, ever eager… always.

A warm heartfelt greeting we will all bring.

And joy will sing it’s great reunion song

“There is a place, a time, to meet again,”

for there we will, finally, we, belong

Arise for I am nearing, call to me

For you my friends, my memories still ring

Mitzy, Blackie, A J, and Snuggles we

Rudy’s coming. Murphy, when it’s his time

There is a place, a time, to meet again

Joyous our days, a world so, so sublime

So wag your tails and greet with barks that sing

Lead me to our hidden rendezvous there

There is a place, a time, to meet again

For you my friends, my memories still ring.

  8. Excellent Villanelle!  the ...ing, ...ong, ....ing, ...ain, ...ime set off bells in my head.

  9. Every time I lose a pet - my heart breaks. I vow NEVER to get another. The longest time - I was petless - was a year. Now that I am older - it is a race who will live longer - my current pet or me. I dare not get another - this will be my last.  Oh - I hope I will see them all again. They have been living in my heart so long. Thank you for a fine tribute.

  10. I am unable to care for a pet so I don't own one, and I miss that. I have loved the pets of friends and roommates and family as if they were my own and feel heartbreak at their passing. My favorite died when a tree fell on her, she was such a sweet loving dog... your poetry touches me and tears cover my keyboard.
