...And so Lee Sung hears what winning sounds like at the Black Mountain Masters 2010
For the first time in Lee Sung’s career, the golfer from Korea finally heard what applause sounded like after he carded a 64.
The Black Mountain Masters commenced on the 16th of December at the Black Mountain Golf Club, Hua Hin and witnessed Lee Sung swiftly reaching the top in the second round leader board despite his three weeks old, right
ear surgery.
The 30 year old golfer climbed steadily to the $600,000 top after shooting an amazing minus 12 in total for his scorecard. According to reports, Sung went through an implant that was surgically put into his right ear, being deaf
since birth.
With a new dawn and an exhilaratingly impressive scorecard from the first round of the Black Mountain Masters, Sung stood amidst the applause, hoots and cheers at the end of the second round of the event as he carded his final
score of 8 under and a 64.
“It’s good to hear the cheers, I feel happy” Sung said.
The golfer from Thailand, Piya Swangarunporn, managed to card a 64 in the second round of the event, which is by far his highest score in the four-round match and managed to trail the second round leader, Tetsuji Hiratsuka, strikingly.
The leader from Korea had grabbed a 130 for his scorecard and led the front with his impressive total score of 14 under par.
With Sung enjoying every minute of his game, Piya Swangarunporn, shot a lethal 65 as a sizeable threat to the others and stood in the fourth position on the leader board.
According to Sung, the operation has helped him with regards to his game as he is now able to judge the ball’s impact a bit more as compared to his previous conditions. The 30 year old said that the impact judgment helped him the
most when he was chipping and that has made all the difference.
“I can hear the applause from the crowd, it’s just amazing” He said.
With his life completely changed now, the golfer with only one victory from the Asian Tour that was attained three years back was able to play three putts, rather long in length on his outward nine and said that he was enjoying
his life immensely.
Currently, the golfer is through 17 holes and is standing with a 3 up at the round three leader board. With one more hole left in R3, the thirty year old golfer drops to minus 11 overall and has only one more round to climb back
to his well deserved position.
The event will end on the 19th of December, 2010.
