And the nominations for the eight categories of the Greyhound of the Year Awards 2011 have been disclosed!!
Been done with a year and have stepped into another has brought up many honours, titles and awards for sports throughout. Thus, the greyhound racing has also announced its candidates for the Greyhound of the Year Awards 2011. The awards have been split
into eight categories that include sprinter, standard, stayers, marathon, hurdler, British-bred, b***h and Newcomer.
Last year, this honour was taken over by Seamus Cahill’s trainee, Jimmy Lollie, who won the Greyhound of the Year alongside being the Best Sprinter and the Best British Bred.
He was also nominated for the same award in the year 2009 as well. The son of World Class, out of Droopys Cara, was born in August 2007. He was bred by K Roberts and is owned by Peter Reed & Steve Gamblin.
Similar was the case with, Midway Skipper, who won the Best British Bred, Best b***h Greyhound and Marathon Performer in the year 2009, and then resurfaced yet again in 2010 as the Marathon Performer. She is the daughter of Top Hondo, out of Midway
Tomsscout, born in May 2006.
Drumcove Lad, Jimmy Lollie and Lil Risky are being considered for the Sprinter of the Year Award. Drumcove Lad won the Stadium Bookmakers National Sprint-Final on 19th December, 2011, at Nottingham. While the last race that,
Jimmy Lollie, won was the Sapphire Queen Sprint on 20th October at Hove.
For the Standard, the nominations include Eden Star, Mill Bling Bling and Taylors Sky. Eden Star very recently won the Betfair Laurels Final on 8th November at Belle Vue, while Mill Bling Bling won the Betfred Eclipse – Final
on 30th November at Nottingham. On 27th October, Taylors Sky won the Primus Telecom Derby Final at Henlow.
Nominated for the Marathon are Capoley Ash, Knockies Hannah and Lottes Girl. For the Stayers, the three stars are Aero Majestic, Blonde Fletch and Westmead Maldini.
The Hurdler will be between Clonkeen Theo, Plane Daddy and Sizzlers Spirit while battling for the award of British-Bred are Jazz Apollo, Mark My Words and Westmead Maldini. Foghting for the b*****s title are Knockies Hannah, Pond Shefelia and Silverview
Perky.
Trying their luck with the Newcomer’s award are Aero Majestic, Eden Star and Silverview Perky.
The Greyhound of the Year Awards 2011 will be held on 22nd January, at the Park Plaza Riverbank Hotel, London. This event will provide a grand platform for all those who need to be recognized for their efforts throughout the
year.
