And what fashion labels do you wear?

Wearing labels

Walking billboards

strut themselves

in their finest finery.

Telling the world…

wearing labels.

What a way,

announcing selves

hiding behind

fashion stampings.

Shame we can’t

wear labels real,

based on qualities.

A truer way…

to see each other.

Wonderful brands

are available…

Kind, Generous,

Trustworthy…

to name a few.

What brand

would you wear?

  1. i liked the way you wrote this Neon.

skinny. it flows as they say too..

oh i have a new label.

    the one you gave me.

    mine says Thorny.

just checked it too to make sure.

    hahaha!

um wait. what does yours say?

    haha! >>   U.L. Listed

  2. Love this poem! I have pondered on "labels" for many years as a metaphor, "Labels come with manufactures directions"

Labels are endless, and are both pos. and neg.

Many times we have to peel the label off, to open our minds to see

anew, of people, places or things.

    Bravo Neonman.

  3. I'm a strong advocate for labels. I can't stand trying to decide what can to open without 'em. I mean that both metaphorically and literally.

I'm a Wal-mart brand most of the times, but every now and then I wear my brothers clothes that he gave me, and pretend I'm all Ambercombie and Finch (or whatever it's called), not often though, just when I want to impress the younger ladies. I never pull it off.

  4. Well said Neon....very well said...everyone who reads across these words will consider the sense working behind it. it works masterly as always.

  5. Fragile, Handle with Care!

  6. Kindness, Generosity

    Anger, and Hatred

    Such feelings change

    Even hearts can be rewritten

    I have chosen to wear

    The writings I have created

    Each story covers my skin

    In such a way

Even you being far from me

Can see the quality of my cloth

Be it top of the line

    Or bottom of the barrel

    It is mine

    And all that I have

  7. I'd wear the same as I always have -- HONEST -- for me it's more than a fashion...Oh, and a good thought-provoking poem!

  8. Humbled by Humility

  9. Well done ! The fabric color may be illusive; the real quality of its texture could be known only by (experienced) examination!

  10. FABULOUS!

The cost of such labels is minimal

    but priceless.

    Did I just make a Con-verb??

  11. Hopefully the one of my Designer.  I cut labels off most things I buy.  I don't want to walk around wearing someone else's name.

  12. Intellect with a dash of romantism and a giggle fringe.

  13. The thing about "labeled" clothing - is one can not tell how much was paid for the product.  Labels usually show "class" determined by how expensive the item was to purchase - who was "better" - who had more money.  However, the said clothes - often end up in thrift stores - where the "common" folk may obtain a status symbol at a reduced price.  Therefore - what is in a wearing of a label? That is the question ♥
