Question:

And you thought Obama was arrogant! Don't you think Palin now takes the arrogance title?

Sarah Palin's speech last night had to be the most arrogant speech I've heard from a politician in a while - many of you previously stated that you didn't like Obama because of his arrogance, so what's your take on Palin?

  1. It was a bit juvenile and somewhat condescending, I could have done without the little digs that were nothing more than superfluous personal attacks. But hey, she was only doing what the party told her to do.

  2. I didn't think it was arrogant...I thought it sounded contrived and comparitvely uneducated when compared with speeches of Obama and Biden.

I realize she's the VP candidate and not pres, but still there were no facts, no statistics...it was all emotion and very little logic (or at least with very little proof to back anything up).

Her statements about community organizers were extremely (and hypocritically) elitist.

It makes me excited to see the debates...if she wants tough...I say let's give her tough.  She's a long way from lil' ol' Wasilla!

  3. She didn't write a word of that garbage.  Republicans are still trying to attract votes with vinegar.  The lack of minorities at the convention speaks volumes to what Republicans stand for.  They had more minority performers than in attendance.  How inclusive can they possibly be?

  4. Not even close, she talked about normal things that normal people do. Its all a matter of perspective of which party you are supporting.

  5. I couldn't believe that Palin would actually get in front of millions of Americans and lie about several things that all could be googled. Apparently her speech writers didn't research their records; like McCain not vetting Palin properly.

    Laws Passed by Obama:

n 2005, he co-sponsored the "Secure America and Orderly Immigration Act" introduced by Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) He later added three amendments to the "Comprehensive Immigration Reform Act", which passed the Senate in May 2006, Lugar-Obama" expands the Nunn-Lugar cooperative threat reduction, Honest Leadership and Open Government Act", which was signed into law in September 2007. Obama also introduced the "Iraq War De-Escalation Act", Obama sponsored with Kit Bond (R-MO) an amendment to the 2008 Defense Authorization Act, provision from the Obama-Hagel bill was passed by Congress in December 2007 as an amendment to the State-Foreign Operations appropriations bill, Obama also sponsored a Senate amendment to the State Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP)

  6. My disappointment stems not from the arrogance (as a politician, she is supposed to have a propped up view of herself, like all other politicians, male and female) but from the tactics she employed in her speech, and placing it beside her claim of being a "maverick", it really was a huge let down.

I thought she would at least bring some class to the arguments and debates. No new ideas were expounded other than painting Obama as the worst thing to ever exist on Earth. She is playing it out exactly the way any other Republican from Washington would.

    There goes their "maverick" claim.

    What a big let down.

  7. Palin presents an authentic picture of women's empowerment, yet owes nothing to the Democrats' feminist agenda. She was named by John McCain to be his running mate solely on her own merit and political skills as governor of Alaska, all things she earned herself.

Seems to me that liberals should be proud of this attitude. Palin's no show-pony. She will bring critical expertise on energy to the Republican ticket. She will be the embodiment of how far a woman can go, not based on a package of rights or a list of government programs, but on her own merit.

Watch out for the pit bull who wears lip stick.

  8. Not at all. She was confident and addressed the attacks against her while taking the wind out of Obama's sails.

But, in all fairness, when our own candidate is confident the other side calls them arrogant. It works both ways.

IMO, her speech didn't mean much. The upcoming debates are where we should focus our attention.

  9. As mean and arrogant as the leftist mainstream media has been to Sarah I don’t think she has been arrogant in her speech. I liked what she said it made me laugh, because I know the issues, and what she is talking about because I’ve been watching this race since the start of this election season.

She was tough, truthful, to the point, and all with a smile.

    =)

  10. The whole Republican Convention has seemed like a farce. Its depth is  like an inch-worth of policies compared to a foot-worth from the Dems. I never thought Obama was arrogant but McCain McSame and Failin' Palin sure are. Wait until tonight!.

I worked as a community worker and their smear of community organizers offends me deeply. I didn't organize, but worked hard helping prepare and deliver hot meals to inner city seniors, take them grocery shopping, visit etc. Of no value?

For all the educated people speaking all was empty rhetoric instead of substantial policies. I have tried to teach my children never, EVER to speak of their peers as was done last night. I have always been a conservative, but supported Obama once he showed up on the political stage. The U.S. needs him and Biden or it's in serious trouble.

And by the way, Washington was blamed for all the country's troubles, yet none of the speakers know the name "George Bush".

  11. She's middle America, if she was condescending, it was ONLY towards OBAMA, not the WORKING people of America...That's the difference between her "arrogance" and Obama's

    And that's a HUGE difference

  12. look ms.sarah wasnt really attacked she and her family were put in a position were people will look at what is going on in her life ,because our lifes could be in her hands..and we really dont know her because she was picked so fast or late. i dont know if i could call her arrogant because right now i just think shes spitting out what the GOP wants her to say

  13. I think she is great, Obama pales in comparison, but then again, I am an open minded Republican who has the ability to compare vs. you who are obviously uneducated.

  14. she s going back to alaska after november.

then she will have to be the brunt of jokes she made herself..for the next 3 decades.

  15. Where have you been the past several months.  Roman columns in a stadium?  "We are one's we have been waiting for"  You are only hearing what you want to hear!

  16. She's an empty pants suit.. If i could use Hillary's term... Someone wrote a nice little attack speech for her and after 3days the Rep still have no substance. Its arrogant to think they can slide by on attacks but not address A SINGLE issue that concerns the public.

  17. Evidently you don't know the difference between confident & arrogant!  Palin is running as VP on her record, not her husbands.  Any woman that would have voted for Hillary should have no problem voting for Palin as VP.  She has more fortitude in her small finger than Obama, Hillary or Biden.  AND, she is not from the "good ole" boys club.  Go McCain/Palin.

  18. Sarah Palin's achievements as mayor and governor have been to bring in the Federal money. Something she avoided mentioning.

A predictable speech written by others, nothing to fawn over (which I find a bit disturbing in the news reports), but also nothing to bash.

  19. She has nothing to be arrogant about...she has no experience on anything...read this:

    Obama:

B.A in political science from Columbia University, with a specialization in international relations

J.D. in Law from Hardvard, graduated magna *** laude; President of the Harvard Law Review

12 years (92-04) teaching constitutional law

7 years State Senator: sponsored more than 800 bills

4 years Senator for Illinos, a state with 12.8 million people

    Palin:

Bachelor's in journalism from University of Idaho

4 years Wasilla City Council (8000 people)

6 years Wasilla mayor (8000 people)

1 year "Ethics Commissioner of the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission"

20 months governor of a state with 660,000 people

  20. Palin has actual accomplishments and has been viciously attacked by Democrats.  Her response was measured and the Democrats deserved what they got.  With Palin you are not looking at arrogance, you are looking at competence.  You don't get that with Obama.

  21. How was she arrogant?

By telling us about herself, which the media cried we didn't know her?

    By talking about energy?

    By supporting McCain?

    By calling Barry out?

I got an email from Obama central last night calling her a liar, but giving no examples......arrogant and slanderous.

  22. Oh don't be so hard on her. I give her props. She really did a great job of delivering that speech which was mainly written before they even knew she was going to be the running mate. I loved the way she addressed issues... wait dag she didn't do that. I loved the way she used a tact to explain her stand point... wait all she did was belittle someone in order to advance her career. I loved the way she left her family out of her argument since she didn't want anyone to talk about her family... oh wait she played on them as if they are her ticket to make her seem like she can relate to the average woman with the average issues. I loved the way you addressed all your controversial issues relating to your character... oh wait you never even attempted to go there.

Sorry Palin, I was almost taken by you. Until all I heard from you was immature insults on a man who, although is a community organizer", did what he did for the people not the pay check. You are from Alaska and you can try hard as ever to some way convince America that your small town can relate to the average small town. Guess what. It doesn't. Your small town is nothing like my small town and the majority of the small towns of America.

Good try, but not swift enough to confuse me enough to forget the issues at hand.

  23. It seems the bar has been so raised for strong women as to be impossible to reach.  I remember when Hillary was described as shrill  and then criticized when she dared to get a tear in her eyes.  Now Palin is described as arrogant or snide.  You never hear a man's speech described this way ...no matter how poorly delivered or lofty and condescending. You never hear a man being questioned if he is being a good father by taking on a major  political job and possibly neglecting his children. I wish we would attack both sexes on issues and hold them to the same standards.

  24. If it's been "a while" then I'm guessing you didn't see Obama's speech.

Last I checked, Palin didn't have fake Greek columns on the stage with her.  She didn't move her speech to a big stadium to make such a spectacle of it.  Last I checked, she hasn't written 2 books about herself.

That's okay.  You're a Liberal.  All liberals are sociopaths and, therefore, don't recognize the symptoms.  All you need to do is kiss a Liberal's *** and they become all happy, fuzzy and warm inside.

    You're a toy.

  25. Is it my imagination, or are we divided along gender lines...with surprise, surprise males finding her refreshing and females finding her arrogant???

  26. Well she has the experience back up her words. Obama, couldn't even vote yes or no, he couldn't respond to an international crisis. So I will take my odds with her.

I am glad she came out like that. The Media trashed her family, said Obama, and Biden said she was from a small town and had no experience. I like a feisty woman.

  27. I agree completely.

She's very arrogant, she came across last night as if Obama has done something to her; he defended her and her family when the truth came out about her daughter's pregancy.

  28. Most high ranking politicians have to have some sense of arrogance. Politics is a dog-eat-dog world.

  29. She certainly can't talk about her failed family values.  Palin, go home.  Your children need you and you didn't beat Obama's ratings.

  30. I didn't C arrogance what I saw was a scared little girl tryN 2 please all the powers that b. She stated things about Biden/Obama as though she knew and the reality is she has never placed one  foot on a senate floor.  She made all these attempts at sincere John McCain the man and his Career which she only knows about based on what they have drilled into her head he had one previous meeting with her.  She made these cheap jabs at media and all I was just not impressed that was her acceptance speech perhaps the debate will b worthy. She continued to point that finger at Obama but their were three pointing bak at her

  31. Sorry you libs don't like it when someone gets back in your face..she showed shes not afraid of the liberal media or Obama..
