Anderlecht star striker Romelu Lukaku not headed to Chelsea, agent confirms
Chelsea target http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Romelu-Lukaku-c31672 revealed a move to the English Premier League side had not yet been finalized, denying recent reports which suggested otherwise.
The 18-year-old Anderlecht forward has been linked with a move to the London club since last summer and according to rumours, was set to make the move in this summer transfer window.
The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Belgium-c2850 international has been linked to a host of top European sides, but the Blues have been favourites to sign him.
While a deal was believed to be already agreed upon, Lukaku confirmed there had been no agreement between Chelsea and Anderlecht.
Lukaku revealed he was currently focusing on his studies, after which he was a planning a vacation and returning to Anderlecht.
Lukaku’s representative, Christophe Henrotay, also confirmed that there had been no meeting or agreement between the two sides as yet.
Henrotay said while speaking to reporters:
“There has not yet been a meeting between Chelsea and Anderlecht, nothing can be concluded.”
Lukaku’s agent also spoke about the reports that Lukaku’s possible transfer to Chelsea was linked with the Blues signing fellow Belgium teenager Kevin de Bruyne.
The 19-year-old http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Racing-c40298 Genk midfielder, De Bruyne , has also been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge this summer.
It was rumoured that the Racing Genk player would somehow be incorporated in the Lukaku deal, which would see both youngsters join http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 this summer.
However, Henrotay claimed there was no such deal underway and that Lukaku’s transfer was not linked with that of De Bruyne’s.
He confirmed:
“As for the scenario with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Kevin-De-Bruyne-c20717 its rubbish, never has there been a question of incorporating him in the Lukaku deal.”
With Lukaku expected to fetch an estimated fee of £22 million, his agent revealed he did not expect the deal to be concluded any time soon.
Henrotay also confirmed his client would be joining Anderlecht for pre-season training, which was scheduled to start later this month.
He continued:
“Anderlecht want a lot of money for Lukaku, he costs more than two million you know - it will take more time.
With the current state of things, Romelu will resume training on June 24 with Anderlecht.”
With the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 Milan keeping a close watch on the young striker, he could end up someplace other than Stamford Bridge.
The Blues are currently without a manager, having sacked Carlo Ancelotti at the end of the season, which means they cannot make any signings at the moment.
Lukaku’s agent urged the Blues to sign a manager if they wished to secure his client’s signature before the other club’s beat them to it.
He said:
“First they [Chelsea need a coach], and other clubs are making enquiries.”
