http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/RSC-Anderlecht-c40394 central midfielder, Lucas Biglia, has stressed that he would like to take part in Copa America 2011 and has decided to delay a shoulder injury to participate in the event. The player admitted that he would be taking a huge risk but acknowledging
the popularity and repute of the event, insisted the risk would be worth it.
The 25-year-old had to be stretchered off the field in just the seventh minute after falling awkwardly over his shoulders. The incident took place during a Belgian Pro League game against Club Brugge. The match, which ended in a 0-0 draw, was played on Sunday,
May 01, at the Stade Constant Vanden Stock.
The injury didn’t seem too significant at first but scans on the shoulder revealed the extent of the damage. The medical staff revealed that the player would require surgery on the shoulder, thus ruling the player out for the remainder of the season.
The Argentine International, on the other hand, expressed his desire to take part in Copa America and decided not to undergo the knife before that. He claimed that he could still feature in the games but won’t be able to move that freely. Biglia did mention
that he would prefer taking rest and let the injury heal in a manner which could enable him to play for Argentina in the prestigious tournament. The midfielder, though, admitted that he would miss the start of the new season for Anderlecht.
The Argentine joined the ‘Purple & White’ in 2006 and has made 171 appearances for the club ever since, scoring five goals in the process. He made his debut for Argentina national team in 2011 and has two appearances thus far.
Further speaking about his injury, the youngster said, "I know that I am taking a risk with it but the Copa America is worth it, he said. If I am operated on at the end of July, then I will have to undergo two months of rehabilitation and then I would miss
the start of the season."
Biglia would miss the start of the new season but could be in action for Argentina when Copa America kicks off from July 01.
