Anderlecht’s Romelu Lukaku move to Chelsea official as he heads to Stamford Bridge for a medical
Romelu Lukaku, the 18-year-old http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Belgium-c2850 striker, has completed his dream move to English Premier League giants Chelsea. After a summer transfer window full of uncertainty and a rejected transfer bid by RSC Anderlecht, the Blues have finally managed to secure
the services of the young forward who everyone is calling the “New Drogba”.
A statement on the Anderlecht official website confirmed the move, it read:
“http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/RSC-Anderlecht-c40394 and Chelsea have reached an agreement regarding the transfer of Romelu Lukaku.
Subject to the results of medical tests and the conclusion of negotiations between the player and the English club, Romelu Lukaku will therefore move into the colours of the London club.”
With just the medical and the personal terms in his way, Lukaku will be playing as a Chelsea player in the upcoming season. The Blues initial bid of £18 million was rejected by the Belgian outfit, only for an improved bid of £19 million to be accepted about
a month later. While Anderlecht did everything they could to hold on to the talented striker, Lukaku was determined on a move to the London side.
Herman van Holsbeeck, the Anderlecht general manager, admitted on the club’s official website that they were disappointed at Lukaku’s departure. However, he was pleased with the transfer fee his departure had generated, which he felt had made the agreement
a win-win situation for both parties. He wished the player luck at his new club and revealed Anderlecht were now looking for a replacement.
The Anderlecht general manager said:
“We regret the departure of Romelu...but the agreement is a win-win situation for the player and RSC Anderlecht.”
Lukaku made his senior debut with Anderlecht in the summer of 2009, having signed an agreement with the club which would keep him there until the end of 2012. Up until now, Lukaku has made a total of 98 appearances for the club in all competitions and has
scored an impressive 41 goals, with 14 assists. He confirmed he was indeed on his way to Chelsea for a medical on his official Twitter account.
Lukaku’s post read:
“I have an announcement to make...Next week I'm going to London for the medical tests.”
The London side also released a statement regarding the transfer and the completion of the deal with Anderlecht over Lukaku. The Blues have confirmed that the player will officially be announced as a new Chelsea signing after the medical and the agreement
on the personal terms. The statement on http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786’s website read:
“An agreement has been reached with Anderlecht for the transfer to Chelsea of striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Romelu-Lukaku-c31672.
The move is now subject to the player passing a medical and agreeing personal terms.”
