Anders Forsbrand starts well at the French Riviera Masters despite arriving late in France
Anders Forsbrand carded a three-under par 69 on Friday and shared the third spot on the leaderboard, entering the last two rounds of the French Riviera Masters at the Terre Blanche Resort and Golf Club.
In the meantime, a total of four other players also joined him on the leaderboard, all of whom posted the same score.
The Swede won the SSE Scottish Senior Open last month and followed that by another good finish at the Speedy Services Wales Senior Open - he secured a tied third position on the leaderboard.
Two weeks ago, he failed to maintain consistency in his game and finished tied for the 41st position at the Pon Senior Open.
This week, he got off to a confident start, in a bid to regain his momentum on the European Seniors Tour.
He started his round on the front nine of the course and recorded three birdies to reach the turn with a three-under par.
The back nine witnessed him record a single birdie against a lone bogey, to finish one stroke behind the leaders Angel Franco and Jean Pierre Sallat.
According to the Swede, it was an outstanding start, considering the fact that he had to face a number of mishaps prior to reaching France on Wednesday.
He was supposed to fly to France on a flight scheduled for Wednesday afternoon. However, the flight was cancelled and he had to catch another plane, later at night.
Moreover, he lost his luggage on the airport, which added to the worries of the 51-year-old.
“It was one of those days where I didn’t feel too good, but I played okay and hit a lot of fairways and greens and putted pretty well,” he said.
“It’s a tricky course and I only saw it for the first time yesterday. I flew in from America on Wednesday and had a nightmare with a cancelled flight then my bags being lost and arriving later on a night flight,” he explained.
“So I only got back from the airport at 1.30am and it takes a few days to get over the jet lag. But it’s a good start,” he concluded.
