Anders Hansen fires a 64 to make a strong move at the UBS Hong Kong Open
Anders Hansen fired an impressive six-under par 64 in the second round of the UBS Hong Kong Open, to take the share of the fifth position, on Friday, November 16, 2012.
The UBS Hong Kong Open is the fourth-last event on the Asian Tour roster and the last one before the European Tour’s season-ending DP World Tour Championship.
Hansen marked a decent start to his campaign in Hong Kong, by carding a one-under par 69 in the opening round.
He then picked up pace in the second round by posting six birdies without conceding a single bogey to finish the day in seven-under for the two rounds.
The Dane now trails the halfway leader Michael Campbell of New Zealand by just two strokes.
Entering the last two rounds, Hansen is confident to catch the Kiwi star on the top, in a bid to record the fourth European Tour victory of his career.
Since his last win on the European Tour, which came at the 2009 Joburg Open, the 42-year-old has not been able to taste success on the European circuit.
He now appears to regain his winning form, as he has recorded top-10 finishes in four of the last seven events that he played on the European Tour.
According to the golf commentators, the Zürich, Switzerland resident needs to put together four solid rounds to end his three-year winless streak on the tour.
Talking to the Asian Tour’s official website, Hansen stated that he was really pleased with his performance in the first two rounds.
“I’m very, very pleased with the round,” he said. “It's obviously very tricky out there, and you know, it's blowing and the wind is coming from all kind of directions.  So it's a little tricky out there.  It's difficult for us.  It's difficult to hit the
fairways and greens”.
He added, “I played solid from tee to green.  But you are going to miss a few greens and you are going to miss a few fairways, that's how it is when it's difficult like it is in any conditions.  You are going to miss fairways.  But I just managed to keep
it together and it was good”.
