Anders Lindegaard cherishing playing for Manchester United
Manchester United’s newly signed goalkeeper http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Anders-Lindegaard-c5553 was extremely delighted to play his first minutes for the Red Devils.
The 3.5-million-pound signing from Danish Club Aalesund made his debut for United in the 2-1 win over Southampton in the FA Cup fourth round tie.
Despite conceding early, Manchester United made a comeback to win the match thanks to goals from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michael-Owen-c25355 and Javier Hernandez. There was nothing much Lindegaard could do to stop Richard Chaplow’s powerful shot that led to the first goal. However, the
26-year-old made some impressive saves and looked solid in between the sticks.
Lindegaard is now hungry for more playing minutes for Manchester United and was excited after fulfilling his lifelong dream to play for such a club.
“It was one of the most enjoyable days of my life so far. When you’ve dreamed of representing a club since you were four years old and finally the dream comes true, obviously it’s a very big thing. I enjoyed it a lot. It was a good debut,” stated the Danish.
Despite conceding the goal, the famous Manchester United support was behind him every time he had the ball and Lindegaard was just shocked with the hospitality he received from the away crowd.
The Danish player compared the Southampton game to the one played against Blackpool in mid-week, where Manchester United managed a come from behind 3-2 win. Lindegaard stated that just like the Blackpool game, the Red Devils were off-colour in the first
half of the match and struggled to create any opportunities for the goal. That was the reason that Southampton went a goal up but the player was happy how things changed in the second half.
After playing first minutes in English style of football, the shot-stopper is hungry for more and aims to contend for the number 1 jersey, which would be vacated once Edwin van der Sar leaves in 2011 summer.
“Everybody wants to play at this club and I’m no different. I dream of playing. I’m not here just to sit and pick my nose. I’m here to play,” explained the Danish international.
