Anders Lund will return to Bjarne Riis team, Saxo Bank-Sungard for 2012
Danish professional rider, Anders Lund, signed Bjarne Riis’s team for the coming season. The cyclist joined the Team CSC as his first professional team in 2007 and stayed there for four years. He moved to team Leopard Trek in 2010 for one year and has now
returned to his old team.
Anders is a very talented rider and a professional climber of the race. He won many events even before he became a professional rider, solely based on his enormous talent.
He stood second at the European U23 Road Race Champion in 2005 and secured the third place at the National Under 23 Road Race Championships same year. After these victories, he started riding professionally in 2007.
The 26- year- old shared his excitement on joining the team as he mentioned that he was overwhelmed after returning to team CSC.
He said, “I found a fantastic team, and this was far from certain because of my situation. So of course I'm thrilled. I have always said, I had a great spell with this team, so to return is the best possible outcome for me”.
Anders showed his interest to participate at the Grand Tour and classics in 2012.
The young Danish rider played a vital role in supporting his old teammate, Frank Schleck, during the Vuelta a Espana 2010.
He finished amongst the top ten cyclists at the Vuelta a Espana 2010 with an overall finish at the sixth position at the Tour of Slovenia.
Team’s manager, Bjarne Riis, was delighted to have his old rider back in the team. He mentioned that losing Anders last year was a real disappointment and his return will certainly strengthen the side.
Riis commented about the cyclist, “He is still pretty young, but despite that, he has gained solid experience as a pro bike rider already. He is a great all rounder and a rider, who can compete and play a vital part of a team in almost any race from the
cobblestone classics and the Ardennes classics to Grand Tours”.
Richie Porte left team Saxo Bank as he moved to team Sky for the coming season.
Anders will join the league of Nicki Sørensen, Matteo Tosatto and Manuele Boaro as all three have been retained by the team Saxo Bank.
Another inclusion in the team Sungard will be Sergio Paulinho who left team RadioShack and will represent his new team for the coming season.
