Anders Skaarup and Mikkel Kaersgaard perform exceptionally well – European Club Championships 2013
Men’s Doubles duo of Anders Skaarup Rasmussen and Mikkel Kaersgaard of Denmark served notice of its potential in the group stage of European Club Championships and defeated the tandem of Daniel Thomsen and Bjarki
Stefansson on May 28, 2013.
This short-lived tussle was a part of match between Team Skaelskor Slagelse and TBR badminton club. It took place in local badminton arena of Beauvais, France and it kept both teams head-to-head just for 19 minutes.
The Danish duo ruled the court in both sets and sealed a splendid straight-set victory with decisive figures of 21-13 and 21-10. The twosome of Anders and Mikkel looked at its best in the opening game, as both
partners played their given role to perfection and pocketed this vital match point.
Both shuttlers forged a fruitful chemistry in the preliminary stage and put the opposing team under immense pressure. They did not give their rivals enough time to get settled and confounded them with a flurry
of masterly crafted strokes.
At first, Anders and Mikkel mounted pressure by registering an unassailable lead before the interval and then magnified the impact by ruling the court in few back-to-back rallies after the break.
The third quarter of set completely belonged to the Danish pair as both partners manipulated every loophole and widened the gap on points table. Though, they lost grip for a short span of time, Anders and Mikkel
tipped the scale in their favour with a staggering knock of 21-13.
Next game was also played in similar manner as TBR shuttlers failed to rise from the dust and surrendered in a disgraceful manner. Things went out of their hands when the opposing team established a significant
lead in the beginning.
Though, Daniel and Bjarki made every effort to come out of their rival’s influence, they could not hit the mark throughout this set.
On the other hand, Anders and Mikkel played with great precision and finished first half of the set with a favourable score position. They also prevailed in latter part of the game and proved themselves superior.
They registered a concluding figure of 21-10 and fetched a valuable match point for Team Skaelskor Slagelse.
