Swedish midfielder http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 are not as good as they think they are, and accused them of undermining and underestimating his country over the last ten years.
Roy Hodgson’s side will go head-to-head against the Blue-Yellow in a crunch Group D fixture on Saturday, following their 1-1 draw against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 in the opening game.
Sweden on the other hand will view the match as a must-win situation, after suffering a shock 2-1 defeat to co-hosts http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ukraine-c3032 on Monday.
Even though the Three Lions have been labelled as the favourites by many ahead of the fixture, the 35-year old lashed out at the English team and media for trivializing his side’s chances, and felt that their failure to do well in major tournaments owes
much to their arrogant behaviours.
While talking to reporters, he said: “I just think maybe you think you're a little bit better than you actually are, and we're a little bit better than you think we are… I think you don't think that much about the Swedish team. Never have.”
Despite the fact that England have produced some of the most well-famed and popular players over the last couple of decades, England have only managed to beat http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sweden-c3015 once in the last 43 years.
The midfielder insisted that his country’s exceptional record against England speaks at lengths about their calibre and potential, and believed that they were at the same level, if not better, as England.
He continued, "I think we're in a good team and are on the same level as England and have been for a long time.”
As things stand currently, Sweden are placed at the bottom of Group D, and a defeat on Saturday will all but end their chances of making it into the quarterfinals.
Nevertheless, the former Southampton player opined that England tends to give more importance to their games against the likes of France and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Brazil-c2858, and haven’t tendered the same professional respect towards Sweden.
He added, “Maybe they shouldn't, but I think England are a great team, although Sweden are not far behind and haven't been for the last 10 or 15 years.”
