So tell me more about this Irvin guy...

  1. His only chance in if Anderson isnt taking him seriously. Anderson and those around him seem to be doing a lot of talking about fights post Irvin. He's talking about Okami, he's talking about occasionally dipping into LHW for "event"  type of fights, but he really should be talking more about James Irvin.

Dont get me wrong, I'm as big of Silva backer as they come, but Irvin is no joke. He's not some James Thompson freak show like the EliteXC, this guy is a serious fighter with serious striking power. Anderson has the best head movement in the game, he is excellent at avoiding any real punishment. He's never been knocked out, cut, knocked down or even seriously hurt by a shot; he doesnt need his A game, if he brings his B game he can win. But he needs to quit looking past Irvin, if he's only looking at this as an easy fight, and a way to showcase himself on free tv he could be in for a rude awakening. James Irvin is looking to use Silva to make a name for himself, James Irvin is taking this fight very seriously, so should Anderson Silva.

  2. puncher's chance

Anderson said he is not staying at LHW. He said it's a one fight deal because Dana asked him to do it. But you never know.

  3. Silva

  4. no he does not stand a chance

  5. Silva will pull off the victory. I don't think it's gonna be as easy as it has been for him though. Irvin has great power and everyone knows what ONE good power shot can do. Either way it's going to be an exciting fight and FREE due to Dana's hatred for Affliction and the great fighter he's lost to it.

  6. Silva is gona own him in my opinion =)

  7. james irvin is not the most well rounded fighter his take down defence is ok but his scrambles back to the feet are good. He is one of the lhw hardest hitters. ko power in each hand, and anything else(beat terry martin with a flying knee). he has much more than a chance. he only needs to land one. and silva has shown he doesn't have one hit power but incredible power none the less. irvin used to fight at heavy weight until he lost his ufc debt. he is a pretty big lhw as it is so he has a lot going for him in this fight with silva. all that said I still think silva will beat him. just don't blink or you could miss another one of the sandmans highlight real knockouts

  8. james irvin is a knockout artist, he definitly stands a chance.

go to youtube and watch him knock out terry martin, houston alexander, and hector remeriz.

all he needs is one punch. where anderson needs quite a few.

it's going to be a slugfest.

  9. Irving gots hvy hands but i think Silva might need to beat him quickly.. he gots to fight Okami in Sept when Evans and Liddell fight.. I say Anderson is going to choke him out just like he did Henderson.

  10. Yeah, James Irvin has a chance.  Not a great one, but maybe 30% or so.

He'll probably take Silva down and punch him in every round.  It's unlikely that Silva won't be able to slide out and get an armbar or even a choke during one of those times, but if he is able to avoid getting tapped, Irvin will probably win the decision on strikes and top control.
