Anderson Silva – a true MMA legend to look up to – UFC News
Throughout the years, we have seen several mixed martial artists reach their peak and decline, but UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva is different. He leads an unbeaten streak and has faced some of the fiercest fighters in the division. Yet, the ‘Spider’
has been able to maintain not only his undefeated streak but also his superiority over others with his fine attitude.
Silva has been targeted by numerous fighters to date. His worst nightmare was The American Gangster Chael Sonnen, who not only trash-talked about him but also commented on his race and nationality. Even then, Silva did not utter a single word of humiliation
or disrespect against Sonnen. Surely, the champion did threat Sonnen but never in a disrespecting manner.
Today, Silva stands as a fighter others can look up to. Even Jon Jones, light heavyweight champion, who holds a long reign as champion, hesitates going head to head with Silva. Even though fight is being highly demanded by fans, still Jones does not seem
to be in the mood. Probably, he knows Silva is the only fighter who can beat him.
Now, the Spider is looking forward to a tough opponent to lock horns with. He last fought with Chael Sonnen, defeating him via second round knockout. He currently has a lot of young stars eyeing him for a title shot, but his camp believes it is time to find
a super fighter for the champion.
Silva is hoping to get his hands on welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre next year. Silva is scheduled to fight Stephan Bonnar at UFC 152.
“It is going to happen anyway, it is Dana White's wish. I think fighting him makes all the sense as well because he is a great name of the sport. As a UFC athlete I want to fight the best and St-Pierre is one of them. Then we try to put on a good show for
the fans,” said Silva in his recent interview.
Whether he gets GSP or not, for now Silva truly stands as an MMA legend. He is an icon who has maintained his respect not only within the UFC but also among fans, writers and analysts.
