Anderson Silva and Jon Jones will never collide – UFC Special
As much as UFC fans want to see the two legends, Jon Jones and Anderson Silva, clash, none of them wants it to happen. Anderson Silva is the current middleweight champion of UFC and Jon Jones is the current light heavyweight champion. Both the fighters are
considered legend in their respective divisions and they hold huge fan bases.
Recently, in an interview, Anderson Silva quashed the idea of a fight against Jones, saying he does not want to do it.
“There's always been a lot of talk about me moving up to 205,” said Silva, who holds an unbeaten streak in the UFC. “I know (UFC president) Dana (White) has talked about it and all the fans have talked about me moving up and facing Jon Jones.
“But it's something I've never wanted. I won't be pretentious and say that I'd want to move up, especially because there are other guys in the weight class and on our team like Rafael Feijao (Cavalcante) and (Antonio Rogerio) Minotoro Nogueira, guys who
could potentially face Jon Jones in the future.”
Silva further stated that the only reason he has achieved so much is that he has been very focused and he wants to keep it that way. Silva, who is now 37, believes he should be honest to the fans and keep on doing what he does the best instead of experimenting.
President of the UFC Dana White has always spoken of a possible clash between the two, saying it would be something fans would love. However, both the fighters have rejected the idea on and off. Previously, Silva shrugged off the rumours of his move to an
upper division saying his respect for Jon Jones is the main reason why he would not want the fight to happen.
Nevertheless, fans still believed that a fight between the two was possible. Unfortunately, now Silva has completely shut all doors of hopes for fans, saying he would never move up and fight Jones. The only possibility that remains now is Jones moving down
in weight to fight Silva, regardless of what the Brazilian has to say about it.
