Anderson Silva for fighting Jones: ‘No, no, no’ – UFC News
It seems like UFC middleweight champion is the most dominant fighter in the history of the Ultimate Fighting Championship. After knocking out Stephan Bonnar at UFC 153 past Saturday, Silva has surely impressed even his critics. The ‘Spider’ was more than
just impressive, he was explosive and dominant.
It was the first time the crowd saw Silva being so aggressive. President of the Ultimate Fighting Championship Dana White was more than just impressed with Silva’s performance against Bonnar. He was out of words to describe what Silva means for the organisation.
Moreover, White knew what fans were waiting to hear, that was Silva’s possible fight against light-heavyweight champion Jon Jones or welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre.
At the post-event news conference, White spoke about Silva going head to head against Jones.
“I know my man says 'No, no, no,'” said White regarding Silva’s reply for a possible Jones fight. “But the amount of money that would be offered for that fight, I guarantee you I will make Anderson Silva say, 'Yes, yes, yes.'”
However, Silva, who shrugged off the possibilities of a possible fight against Jones, once again iterated that he is not interested in the hefty check that may come along when he collides against Jones.
In a recent interview to MMAJunkie.com, Silva said, “Since I started training martial arts, I never thought about the money.”
“I think everything I was able to get was because I did it with pleasure and love. When I started, there was no money in this and I didn't fight for money. Obviously, the money is important. We all need money, but I don't fight for the money,” added the
middleweight champion who moved up in weight to face Stephan Bonnar.
Silva has now extended his undefeated UFC streak to 16-0, while Bonnar stands with 8 wins and 7 losses in UFC. Of course, Bonnar was no match for Silva but an upset was being expected, which never happened. In fact, Bonnar fell to Silva earlier than anyone
could anticipate.
For now, Silva is in no mood to face Jones, as the middleweight champion believes Jones has much better options to go for.
