Anderson Silva not in the mood to fight Chris Weidman – UFC News
While Michael Bisping and Chris Weidman are finding ways to get to Anderson Silva, the UFC middleweight champion is looking forward to fight Georges St-Pierre.
After beating Chael Sonnen in just two rounds, Silva’s camp insists there is no fighter in the UFC league right now who deserves to face Silva.
“Anderson has the biggest paycheck in the UFC, and you can't promote an event with these amateur kids that are coming up now,” Jorge Guimaraes told Tatame in his recent interview regarding Silva’s next opponent.
He added, “No opponent makes sense for Anderson at this moment… unless we do a catchweight against Georges St-Pierre. They didn't offer the fight, but he's the only one that could do a super fight.”
Definitely, no fighter in the UFC roster is capable of facing Silva right now. Even though Dana White believes fighters like Michael Bisping and Chris Weidman can go that level, Silva’s camp is in total denial.
Anderson Silva went head to head against Chael Sonnen in a rematch at UFC 148. Since Sonnen had lost the last encounter with just mere seconds of the last round, most fans and analysts were hoping Sonnen to end Silva’s long reign as champion.
However, Silva, the Brazilian Spider, once again proved he is the number one mixed martial artist in the organisation by knocking down Sonnen in the second round. Sonnen’s fall embarrassed Dana White and he walked out of the arena.
Sonnen had trash-talked enough to make fans and analysts believe he would beat Silva and end the era but it did not happen. In the ring, Silva was once again dominant and he knew when to strike Sonnen. The fight ended in a disappointment when Sonnen lost.
Now, Bisping and Weidman are looking forward to a title shot at Silva, even though they both need to prove their mettle first. Weidman is undefeated whereas Bisping will face Brian Stann at UFC 152. If Bisping wins against Stann, he might get a shot at Silva,
but it is not sure yet. Speculations are that Dana White is keener on putting Weidman against Silva than Bisping.
