Anderson Silva wants 50% of UFC to fight Jon Jones – UFC News
When President of the Ultimate Fighting Championship Dana White said a hefty cheque would bring Anderson Silva to the cage against Jon Jones, he probably did not expect the middleweight champion to take it seriously. Well, now that Silva has taken it seriously,
it seems like White will have to give him 50% of UFC’s share to make the fight happen.
In a recent interview with the UAE TV, Silva spoke of the possibility of a super-fight between him and light heavyweight champion Jon Jones. Though in a sarcastic way, Silva did hint at the fact that the fight will indeed happen if he makes a fortune out
of it.
“The question (about facing Jones) would have to be made to Dana White,” said the middleweight titlist. “Let's ask if he'll give me 50% of the UFC. If he will, maybe this fight will happen. I have personal projects outside of the UFC and want to put them
in practice. I'm opening my own martial arts academy in LA. I want to do my thing, take some air, spend time with the family. I have more to do than take punches to the face.”
In other words, Silva has once again put a period to the imaginations of many UFC fans. Since both fighters are kings of their division, fans have longed to see both of them clashed. Silva has rejected the offer time and again, saying he would not move up
in weight at any cost to face Jones.
Recently, when Silva moved up to the light heavyweight division to face Stephan Bonnar, the middleweight grabbed a rather easy victory to appease his Brazilian fans. At the post press conference, he made his intentions clear of not doing this again.
According to Silva, there are a lot of other fighters in the organisation who deserve to go head to head with Jones. On the other hand, Jones believes the fight is very much possible but it depends on the terms that are being put forth.
For now, fans need to understand that the ‘Spider’ is in no mood to put his unbeaten streak on the line against a threat like Jones.
