Anderson Silva’s camp believes Michael Bisping cannot defeat Vitor Belfort – UFC News
Briton fighter Michael Bisping has longed for a title shot at middleweight champion Anderson Silva but has not been able to secure it yet. Fortunately, it seems like Bisping is just close enough to get his dream match only if he is able to defeat ‘The Phenom’
Vitor Belfort on UFC on FX 7 on January 2013. However, Silva’s team believes Bisping would fall to Belfort.
Initially, Silva was hoping to get a shot at welterweight titlist Georges St-Pierre in a super-fight but that will not happen anytime soon. Earlier this year, Silva noted that none of the remaining fighters in his division can stand up tough against him,
which is why he wanted GSP to face him. Now, it seems like Silva has no other choice but to fight within his division. Bisping stands as a good option but the team believes he will not pass Belfort’s test.
“"[Silva's] manager doesn't think the GSP super fight will happen right now, but they'd love for it to happen at some point. I brought up the possibility of fighting Michael Bisping if he wins against Vitor Belfort,” reported Ariel Helwani of FUEL TV on
Tuesday’s edition of UFC Tonight.
“And Jorge told me they'd love that fight, but he said he didn't think Bisping has a good shot against Vitor Belfort. So they think Anderson will be back fighting in the summertime, but they're not sure who he will fight then,” he added.
Bisping stands among the top five in the middleweight division. Although he is not the number one contender, it seems like his campaign for a title shot has finally given him results. After calling out Silva nearly at every forum, Bisping is now close enough
to the fight.
Just a win over Belfort can take Bisping to Silva, if that is something he can do. Of course, if The Count beats The Phenom, Silva’s camp will agree to fight him, considering it would be an upset.
For now, Bisping is training hard to ensure he goes through Belfort. He knows it is not an easy fight but he needs to score a win at any cost.
