Andhra v Kerala - Ranji Trophy - Group C - Day 4 – Live Score and Update
Andhra 329 and 191 v Kerala 312 and 192 - Match drawn
The New Year brought disappointment with it for Andhra and Kerala fans as the four-day http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kumar-Shri-Ranjitsinhji-c71870 Trophy, Group C, match between these two teams ended in a draw on Tuesday, 01 January, 2013, at YS Raja Reddy Stadium, Cuddapah.
With http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kerala-c803, who bolstered 312 runs by the end of their first innings, fans were hoping to see a close finish to the game.
By stumps on the penultimate day, Andhra had managed to post 38 runs without any loss, aiming to continue their meritorious batting on the final day.
However, this partnership failed to flourish, as with only 45 runs on the board, KS Bharat was clean-bowled by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/S-Sreesanth-c2398 with 37 runs to his name.
Losing an early wicket was a disappointment for them, but they needed to brush-off the demise of the opener and continue their onslaught.
Kerala struck for the second time when Prasanth had his stumps shattered after belting 19 runs. By this time, Andhra had managed to post 68 runs on the board.
Middle-order batsman, B Sumanth, was another disappointment as he faced only three deliveries before losing his wicket without scoring a run.
Just when things seemed out of their control, K http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Koyya-Bharat-Reddy-c71687 and AA Muzumdar forged a potent collaboration, as the batting pair led the side towards 108 runs, before the demise of the latter, who scored 27 runs.
Reddy was then joined by skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Andimani-Ganga-Pradeep-c44219, and the two batsmen continued the batting onslaught by punishing the bowlers without remorse.
However, they faced formidable resistance from the bowlers as they reached 137 runs, before Reddy faltered after stabbing 43 runs.
While the skipper found his way off the field after scoring 29, his team, later was bowled-out for 191, giving their opponents a target of 209 runs to win.
Kerala should have gone for the kill, as the target was achievable by any standards, nonetheless, they let their fans down as they could score only 192 for the loss of four wickets before the day ended.
