Andhra v Kerala - http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kumar-Shri-Ranjitsinhji-c71870 Trophy - Group C – Live Score and Update
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kerala-c803 312 - Andhra lead by 55 runs with 10 wickets remaining
At stumps on the third day of the ongoing Group C, Ranji Trophy, match between Andhra and Kerala, the former lead by 55 runs with ten wickets remaining in their second innings at YS Raja Reddy Stadium, Cuddapah.
After bolstering a competitive score of 329 in their first innings, Andhra, were always in the lead and needed to halt their opposition at the earliest.
Kerala, however, knew that they needed to give a strong batting performance and match the score posted by their rivals to woo their critics.
Having ended the second day of play with 55 runs for the loss of two wickets, they resumed their batting with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/VA-Jagadeesh-c2742 and PR Prem.
This partnership took the score to 81, before the fielding side drew first blood when Atchuta Rao dismissed Prem with the batsman on 25 runs off 63 deliveries.
Jagadeesh was then joined by SV Samson, and the two batsmen moulded a match saving partnership by hammering the score to 280 runs.
This partnership was instrumental in not only halting the bowling onslaught but also in bringing their side right back in the game.
The two batsmen, while exhibiting their outstanding class and patience, kept the scoreboard ticking without taking too many risks, gradually snatching the game away from Andhra.
Andhra would certainly be wondering now where they went wrong as they needed only two more wickets to wreak havoc upon their rivals with an exposed tail.
This meritorious partnership finally met its end on the wicket of Samson, who was dismissed by Atchuta Rao after belting a huge knock of 122 runs.
This was the wicket the fielding side was waiting for, and once the dangerous batsman was out of their way, they struck again after only a run when Vijaykumar dismissed KJ Rakesh for nil.
Then with only 285 on the board, Kerala lost their sixth wicket on the departure AG Kodoth for two.
With Jagadeesh hitting the showers after hammering a massive knock of 117 runs, the side lahttp://www.senore.com/Cricket/Thomas-George-Burrows-c93472er crumbled with a modest score of 312 on the board.
From Andhra, DP Vijaykumar and T Atchuta Rao were the top bowlers, sharing four wickets each.
They later scored 38 runs with openers DB Prasanth (8) and KS Bharat (30) still batting.
