Andi Murez captures Women’s 100m freestyle gold – Swimming News
Andi Murez of UN-12-PC seized gold medal of Women’s 100m freestyle on day one of the 2013 Speedo Grand Challenge at Woollett Aquatic Centre on Sunday, May 26.
The 21-year-old Murez devastated hopes of her opponents in the 100m discipline as she cruised her way towards the finishing wall for the title. With her unrelenting efforts, she stayed comfortably ahead of her challengers and secured
first position.
She remained in a lead of two arm-strokes over her toughest swimmer and touched the wall for gold medal with the timing of 55.83 seconds.
The champion was chased by Felicia F Lee of UN-26-MD, who was 0.31 seconds slower from her preceding swimmer and tapped the wall with an effort of 56.14 seconds.
The second best finisher was chased by Maddy Schaefer of UN-12-PC, who was 0.43 seconds slower from her former finisher and posted a time of 56.57 seconds for bronze medal.
Third position holder of the race was followed by Lindsey Engel of OCW-CA, who stayed 0.80 seconds away from her foregoing finisher and touched the wall with an effort of 57.33 seconds.
The 16-year-old Engel was chased by Consta Moseley of Roadrunner-CA, who as 0.27 seconds behind and hit the finishing end for fifth place with the timing of 57.60 seconds.
Sixth position of the event was secured by Stina Gardell of UN-20-CA, who was 0.33 seconds behind and surfaced on the finishing end with a timing of 57.93 seconds.
Seventh fastest spot of the race was obtained by Ting Quah of SING, who suffered a loss of only 0.03 seconds from her foregoing finisher and concluded her race in a time of 57.96 seconds.
Eighth position of the swim was obtained by Kait Albertoli of UN-10-CA, who remained 0.08 seconds slower from her preceding swimmer and touched the wall with the timing of 58.04 seconds.
Albertoli was trailed by Amy E Lubawy of Bch Heatwave-CA, who was 0.43 seconds slower and clocked an effort of 58.47 seconds for ninth place.
Tenth position of the event was obtained by Julia G Ama of UN-12-PC, who was only 0.04 seconds lucky from her foregoing finisher and posted an effort of 58.51 seconds.
In addition, Murez expressed happiness over her undisputed effort in the 100m freestyle event while the position holders were called upon the medal rostrum for awards and accolades at the prize distribution of the tournament after
the session.
