André Budzien of Schweriner Yacht club grabs early lead at 2012 OK Dinghy World Championship
First day of the 2012 OK Dinghy World Championship was a tremendous start for the German sailor André Budzien from Schweriner Yacht club as he was able to claim early lead with five points after he took part in two scheduled races of the day.
The German sailor was outstanding on the Vallensbaek waters in Denmark and clinched a second and a third finish to hit the top podium in the initial standings of the regatta. The weather conditions over the racing area were enough to have a healthy sailing
competition on the first day of the regatta.
At the start of the first day proceedings, the breeze was gusting around six to eight knots which helped the sailors complete their first two races on time. The first race started under moderate wind which really pushed the sailors towards the finish line.
The German sailor was impressive in the beginning but could not maintain his speed and tumbled one place down to the local sailor, Rene Johannsen who finished on the first place. The second race went the same way for the German participant and he crossed
the finish line on third podium to compile five points.
The winds fluctuated during the proceedings of the second race but it did not affect the proceedings. Another local favourite, Rene Johannsen finished his first day on the second place with nine points after claiming a fourth and a fifth position in both
races.
