Andrade brutally dismisses Hernandez on ESPN2′s Friday Night Fights series – Boxing news
Demetrius Andrade shocked the boxing universe when he knocked out Angel Hernandez in just two rounds in the main event last night on Friday Night Fight series by ESPN 2.
On the other hand, Raymond Serrano overpowered Kenny Abril through a unanimous decision.
Demetrius Andrade, who had 16 wins, 0 losses and 11 knockouts by last night, was quite successful in overthrowing Angel Hernandez, with 30 wins, 11 losses and 17 knockouts, in minutes in a bout, which was already being considered a mismatch.
As soon as the fight started, a much-determined Andrade attacked an intimidated Hernandez with whatever he had. On one hand, Hernandez had all the rights of not being prepared since he took the fight just two days before it happened. In addition, Hernandez
supposedly was going through a rough patch with accusations of not being in the right mental state.
Therefore, for Andrade this was quite an easy fight to go through. For him, the veteran Hernandez was just a sack of meat that needed just a bit of beating to stay down. However, it was unfortunate to see that Andrade did not end the fight clean, instead
his last body shot to Hernandez was heavily criticised. It was a right hook on the body followed with a left cross that immediately made Hernandez hit the mat.
What was shocking here was to see Hernandez giving up so easily. He is known for being a spontaneous, resilient and a pressure fighter, but this time he could not take it. After the two big shots, he made an effort to be on his feet again just when Andrade
delivered another big left making him kneel. This was when the referee felt it is time to end the misery for Hernandez and he called off the fight at 1:39 of the round without any counts.
It should be noted here that Hernandez has not been in the best of his forms lately. He lost his last three fights and was not really the right choice. On the other hand, Andrade, 23, is ambitious and he claimed that he would soon be in the top-10 contenders
for the middleweight title.
