Andray Blatche lets a few things off his chest regarding the Washington Wizards – NBA News
The Brooklyn Nets back up center Andray Blatche had a lot of things buried in his chest about his former team, the Washington Wizards, and he wanted to get them off his chest. Blatche got the perfect opportunity on when he was
interviewed by Washington D.C’s 106.7 FM, and had a lot of things to say about how the team handled him during his time of injury.
“If my brother, my mom or my uncle was hurt or needed help, I would give them my last to make sure they're better, or I would have their back. I can't remember not once did anybody (with the Wizards) say, 'Give him a break or let's
try to pick him up or anything.’ They were basically like just saying, 'OK, when the booing started, well OK, let's use that as an excuse,'” said Blatche.
The 2011-2012 NBA season proved to be a difficult one for Blatche, one in which he was amnestied from the team after playing seven seasons with them. Disheartened and disappointed by the way the team dealt him, Blatche said that
the Wizards General Manager Ernie Grunfeld did not have his back and that the management forced him to play through his strained left calf.
Blatche also took offence to the fact that he had been labelled a knucklehead and a problem creator in the Wizards locker room by the team management, saying that he never did anything that could be used to prove those charges
against him.
"Who else would say that? None of my teammates did. For them to say, 'He's a bad teammate, he's a cancer in the locker room, he's this, he's that,' all that was a bunch of lies. That's what really made me mad,” added Blatche.
Blatche also refuted that he had anything to do in a number of incidents that he was involved in during his time with the Wizards, including an incident in which he laughed when former Wizards player Gilbert Arenas pointed his
finger at his teammates, signalling that he was going to shoot them. Blatche is now looking forward to his new life with the Brooklyn Nets, saying that his stint with the Wizards is now behind him and he is working hard to be the best player he can for his
new team and help them achieve success this season.
