Seleccao U-21 International Andre Almeida is set to make his debut for Benfica in the League Cup tie against Santa Clara after being given the nod by Jorge Jesus.
The talented youngster has been touted to be a star of the future and in order to hone his skills, had been farmed out to UD Leiria by the Reds.
Although he wasn’t able to put in spectacular performances at the Municipal da Marinha Grande, he managed to score one in the five appearances he made for the Os Lis.
However that wasn’t enough to convince the club of his talents and the player was not given a contract at the helm, which eventually prompted a return back to the Stadium of Light. But things in Lisbon aren’t all that better, as Jorge Jesus already has a
plethora of options in the centre of the park.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Axel-Witsel-c7029, Nicolas Gaitan and Pablo Aimar have been featuring consistently in midfield since the start of the season and alongside Javi Garcia seem to be the tactician’s preferred choices. But for the League Cup match with Santa Clara, Jesus is set to
make wholesome changes as he seeks to keep his squad fresh.
Andre Almeida is set to make his debut for the Eagles, but he is likely to be utilized as a right-back rather than his usual role in midfield. Other rotations are also expected as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ezequiel-Garay-c13071 is already ruled out for this one and Luisao could be rested
in preparation for tougher games.
In the duo’s absence, Miguel http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Joan-Capdevila-c18631.
Javi Garcia should start this one alongside Nicolas Gaitan but like all senior players http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Bruno-c8098 Cesar is also in contention for a berth in the starting eleven.
While a number of players will be out to impress http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jorge-c19120 Jesus, all eyes will be on Andre Almeida as he makes his debut for the side and faces a daunting task in cementing his place at Benfica.
