Elie Baup was appointed the coach of the Rhone giants this summer following the resignation of Didier Deschamps, who left the post to take reins of the French national side.
Marseille faced a huge amount of criticism for naming the former Toulouse boss as their head coach, as it was being feared at the time that the 57-year-old will not be able to handle the pressure of being a coach of a club like OM.
However, Elie Baup has been impressive this season with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-de-Marseille-c40127 currently first in the league. Under the tutelage of the former Bordeaux coach, Les Phoceens are off to an impressive start in the 2012/2013 Ligue 1 campaign, with the French
club winning all of their games in the league so far.
And one OM player, who is very impressed by the tactics of the Frenchman, is Andre Ayew. The striker has been an influential player for the Rhone giants over the years, and already has 4 goals to his name this season.
While talking to La Provence, the 22-year-old heaped praise on his coach, calling him the best tactician he has ever worked with.
Ayew said that Baup’s arrival at Stade Velodrome didn’t please many and he faced serious criticism upon his appointment. The Ghanaian added that critics wrote him off before he even signed the contract with Les Phoceens, and it was really unfair to the Frenchman.
“He has been widely criticised for being named the Marseille manager, people said he had not achieved result in the past three years and bla-bla-bla,” he told reporters.
The 22-year-old said that Elie Baup has showed the world what he is capable of and he is the right man to guide Marseille to their former glories.
“This season he has proved his quality to many people. He has a lot of desire, determination and gives us everything. He pushes us further. We’re going to war together until the end of the season.”
