Andre Bahia joins Samsunspor from Feyenoord Rotterdam – Dutch Eredivisie news
Reports from Rotterdam confirm that Andre Bahia has joined the Turkish Super Lig outfit, Samsunspor, from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Feyenoord-c39258 Rotterdam. The defender has signed a contract with the Turkish outfit that will keep him at Samsun 19 Mayis stadium until the summer of 2014.
The 27-year-old arrived at De Kuip Stadion in the 2004/05 season from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Flamengo-c39361. The Brazilian defender played 151 matches for the Rotterdam giants and scored 14 goals in his seven-season stay at Feijenoord Stadion.
The defender admitted that he will certainly miss Feyenoord and revealed that this move is an important step for him.
“I will deeply miss this club and the city. It will take time to get used to being at Samsunspor after all those years at Feyenoord. But personally, this move is an important step for me”, Bahia said while talking to the media.
The Brazilian national lost his starting berth in the Stadiumclub’s playing eleven in the recently concluded season and the situation forced him to make a move away from the Rotterdam outfit.
“I wanted to stay at Feyenoord until my retirement, but I do want to play. Therefore, it was time to move on”, the 27-year-old concluded.
Martin van Geel, De Stadionclub technical director, thanked the experienced defender for his commitment to the club, but revealed that his departure was the best solution for him and the outfit.
“We are extremely thankful to Andre for his dedication to the club over the last few years. His departure now is probably the best solution for all parties”, Van Geel was quoted as saying to the media.
Although Bahia had an ongoing contract with De Stadionclub that ran until the summer of 2012, the Turkish outfit have reportedly acquired the 27-year-old’s services on a free transfer, giving Feyenoord more space in the salary budget.

De Stadionclub should find perfect replacements for the duo and should start looking for a replacement for the impending departure of Fer if they have any intentions of winning a European place after a dismal 2010/11 campaign.
