Andre Berto determined to propel himself back into the mix by defeating Jan Zaveck – Boxing news
The Beast, Andre Berto, who lost his World Boxing Council’s welterweight championship belt via unanimous decision against the Vicious, Victor Ortiz, on April 16, 2011 at the MGM Grand at the Foxwoods Resort Casino, is determined to get back into the mix
by defeating Jan Zaveck in September.
The 27-year-old American, Andre Berto, will challenge the Slovenia’s pugilist, Jan ‘Mr. Sympathikus’ Zaveck, for his International Boxing Federation’s Welterweight Championship belt on September 3, 2011 at the Beau Rivage Resort and Casino in Biloxi, Mississippi
and Berto reckons it is a chance for him to regain his image.
Berto, who has won 27 of his 28 professional fights, with 21 of his wins coming by the way of a knockout, told the media this is a very important fight for him, as the boxer believes a win in this fight will bring him a lot of opportunities.
He said, “I just need to win, and that’s it. I’m going to get back into the mix and do what I do – which is to crack heads. Then I will win this title and everything else is going to follow.”
Berto, whose only career defeat thus far has come against Victor Ortiz, claimed he always fights with a lot of heart and will win his opponent at any cost.
“I think that the fans have seen me put myself in harm’s way, and they’ve seen that I have the heart to bang it out when I have to but they’ve also seen me box. So at this point, I definitely need to just come away with a victory,” added Berto.
Berto’s promoter, Lou DiBella, however thinks it will be a very tough night for his fighter as he admitted Zaveck, who has won 31 of his 33 professional fights (1 no contest), with 18 of his wins coming by the way of a knockout, is a very tough fighter to
beat.
DiBella said, “Zaveck is very rugged, a very good boxer. So this is a very, very difficult fight.”
