Andre Brasil wins Men’s 100m butterfly gold – 2012 Paralympic Games
Andre Brasil of Brazil won gold medal of the Men’s 100m butterfly in S10 category on third day of the swimming events at the 2012 London Paralympic Games in Aquatics Centre on Saturday, September 1.
The Brazilian player remained prominently ahead of his opponents throughout the discipline and made his way to the finishing wall for gold medal. With his relentless efforts, Brasil showed no leniency to his opponents and finished his swim in first place.
Brasil remained half body length ahead of his closest swimmer throughout the discipline and made his way to the finishing wall by clocking a time of 56.35 seconds.
His gold winning effort remained 0.54 seconds faster from Dmitry Grigorev of Russia, who followed him on the finishing end for silver medal by producing an effort of 56.89 seconds.
The second position holder was followed by Achmat Hassiem of South Africa, who suffered a loss of one body length from his former finisher and completed the podium by winning bronze medal with a timing of 57.76 seconds.
Fourth fastest spot of the race was obtained by David Levecq of Spain, who was only 0.14 seconds slower from his foregoing finisher and hit the wall with an effort of 57.90 seconds.
The Spanish swimmer was traced by Phelipe Andrews Melo Rodrigues of Brazil, who remained 0.89 seconds away from him and tapped the wall for fifth position with a timing of 58.79 seconds.
Sixth fastest spot of the event secured by Mike van der Zanden of Netherlands, who stayed 0.60 seconds slower from his preceding swimmer and clocked an effort of 59.39 seconds.
Zanden was chased by Andrew Pasterfield of Australia, who remained prominent for seventh position of the race as he posted a time of 59.49 seconds.
Last spot of the event was secured by Ian Jaryd Silverman of USA, who remained half body length behind and clocked a time of 59.93 seconds.
Brasil received huge appreciation from the crowd for his unmatchable efforts in the discipline and promised his fans that he would continue his hard work to achieve the same in future events.
